I am excited to be joining the Department of Philosophy at San José State University as an Assistant Professor. My research lies primarily at the intersection of philosophy of mind, philosophy of artificial intelligence, philosophy of psychology, and philosophy of cognitive science. I also have interests in metaphilosophy, epistemology, egalitarianism, neuroscience, evolutionary theory, and computer science.
At San José State, I will continue my research at the intersection of mind, artificial intelligence, and the science of consciousness, while also engaging with SJSU’s diverse undergraduate and graduate population. I am especially excited to contribute to the university’s newly developed Advanced Institute for Ethical Technologies.
I am deeply grateful to the University of Iowa for the role it played in preparing me for this opportunity. The faculty in the department were extraordinarily generous with their time and support throughout my graduate training. I still look back fondly on the conversations I had with Professors Fumerton and Landini. I am excited to begin this next chapter and to carry with me all that I learned at the University of Iowa.
